Origami

I’ve done origami sense I was pretty young. I grew up spending a lot out in arts stores, but my dysgraphia makes painting and drawing difficult for me. As a child,  I was jealous and frustrated that I couldn’t create “art”.  Luckily I found origami books. That and photography started opening my mind up to the idea that i could be artistic too as a child. When I was older and had 4hrs of commuting in and out of NYC i had lots of time to practice origami. I was doing chain maile, but the bags of links and tools were a bit heavy. Switching to paper was a wise choice.

I noticed that I got stuck on a plateau of abilities, so I started going smaller and smaller. Hoping to work out the kinks in my skill. I also started experimenting with different materials. Smallest origami crane I’ve made so far was made from a 5mm x 5mm square. Looking for a way to share and preserve my tiny origami, I started making jewelry and art. I have also started exploring new materials. I find copper to be very forgiving and like the feel of working with it.
