This is the final build of the giant clam mask/headpiece I made for Noreen’s little mermaid. I love how it came out works better than I could’ve hoped Originally I had plans for a push stick to open close it or maybe pulley and string. While playing with it I just happen to get the spring on the hinge and the bungee cords perfectly balanced where you can open and close it by using body movement. I hadn’t hoped or planed to get something this user friendly. I thought I was gonna have to have a stick with a stop and lock. I was worried it would slip, possibly hitting the kid on the head if it did.

It does need a little repair and I do want to change the colors a little bit. I’m tempted to put a row of LEDs along the edge just on the inside so that mimics the of look like eyes of a giant clams and have it light up when it’s open via a pressure trigger. Maybe with a slight delay and a fade.

if I was ever gonna build another one of these and come up with a better looking frame shoulder frame.
